ASUNCION, Paraguay, Oct. 5, 2022–Paulo Cesar dos Santos on Fidel da Sasa JE won the Intermediate 1Freestyle and Victor Trielli Avila on Corsario IGS captured the Grand Prix Freestyle Wednesday for a sweep by Brazil of the South American Games.
The victory by Paulo and the 13-year-old Lusitano stallion at Small Tour was a personal best 73.150%. Paulo and the Brazil-bred Fidel de Sasa won both the Prix St. Georges and Intermediate 1 in the two days of team competition that earned Brazil gold.
Team mate Vinicius Mirando da Costa on Biso Das Lezirias, a 16-year-old Lusitano stallion, placed second in the Int. 1 musical performance on 71.215%.
Ecuador’s Maria Jose Granja and the 20-year-old Brazil-bred Emiliano AP was third on 70.475%.
Victor Trielli Ávila on Corsario IGS, also bred in Brazil, scored 71.410% to win the Grand Prix Freestyle with only two starting combinations.
Fiorella Mengani of Argentina on Assirio D Atela, 17-year-old Portuguese-bred stallion, was runner-up on 69.30%.
