DEVON, Pennsylvania, Sept. 30, 2022–Alice Tarjan and the American-bred Serenade MF won the World Cup Grand Prix Friday night to kick off competition in North America for the championship in Omaha in six months.

Alice and the nine-year-old Hanoverian mare scored 71.804% for the victory, a month after the pair won the United States Grand Prix Championship. Alice of Oldwick, New Jersey and Serenda that was bred by Maryanna Hayman, of Marydell Farm in Columbus, North Carolina, following a European tour where they were named reserve for the American team at the world championships. The national title was a repeat performance from 2021 for Alice, of Oldwick, New Jersey.

This is the first of 10 qualifiers in the North America league comprising Canada, Mexico and the United States that will qualify three riders for the Final of the only international championships. It will be held in Omaha next April, after the Midwestern city staged it for the first time in 2017.

Megan Lane and the 19-year-old Zodiac MW placed second on 67.100%. The pair competed for Canada at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon.

Michael Bragdell rode Qredit Hilltop, a 14-year-old Oldenburg stallion owned by Hilltop Farm in Colora, Maryland where Michael is the farm’s rider, was third on 66.391%.

The Freestyle to earn points for World Cup qualification will be staged Saturday night.
