The Central American Games that included dressage, eventing and jumping have been canceled following the International Olympic Committee’s suspension of Guatemala that was a host of the championships to have been held next month.

The Organización Deportiva Centroamericana executive committee made the decision to cancel the Games with dressage and jumping scheduled in La Aurora, Guatemala scheduled for Oct. 27, Nov. 13. Equestrian sports were first included in the Games in 1973 and are staged once every four years.

El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama were expected to participate in dressage at the Games.

The IOC suspension, to take effect Oct. 15, revolved around governance of the Guatemala Olympic Committee.
