AACHEN, Germany, June 29, 2022–Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour and Bohemian on Denmark’s Olympic and European Championship teams last year, easily won the CDI4* Grand Prix with a score above 80% Wednesday with barely a month to the world championships. USA’s Adrienne Lyle on Salvino was runner-up.

Cathrine and the 12-year-old Westfalen gelding scored 80.413% for the victory in only the second competition this year for the partnership that is ranked No. 2 in the world behind Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB with the rider pregnant with her second child.

Cathrine will ride Vamos Amigos on the Danish Nations Cup team Thursday to lead a powerful lineup rated favorites to win their first ever world championships in Herning, Denmark in early August.

Adrienne and Salvino, the 15-year-old Hanoverian stallion that was on the American silver medal teams at both the 2018 world championship and the Tokyo Olympics, placed second on 76.891%. This was only the third CDI since last July’s Olympics for the pair based in Wellington, Florida. Adrienne opted to ride in the CDI4* ride Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle rather than the CDIO5* Nations Cup that could require three competitions.

“Salvino feels fanastic,” she told dressage-news.com.

“With no spectators at the Tokyo Olympics, it’s been a while since we’ve been in such a big packed stadium.

“He was quite enthusiastic and happy to be there.

“We are looking forward to riding the freestyle under the lights on Saturday.”

Steffen Peters on Suppenkasper, team mates on the 2018 world championships and Tokyo Games teams, will compete in the Nations Cup.

Germany’s Frederic Wandres on Bluetooth OLD, a 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding, was third on 75.217%. He will ride his top mount, Duke of Britain in the Nations Cup in seeking to be selected for his first senior championship team. The German team took a big hit Wednesday when double Olympic team gold medal mount for Dorothee Schneider was withdrawn as not being fit enough.

Isabell Werth on Superb, one of her two prospects for Germany’s championship team, was sixth on 74.544% behind Norway’s Isabel Freese on the 12-year-old Totilas stallion Total Hope OLD on 75.000% and Denmark’s Andreas Helgstrand on Jovian, an eight-year-old KWPN stallion, in fifth on 74.761%.

In the Prix St. Georges earlier, Frederic Wandres and the 10-year-old Hanoverian stallion Quizmaster won with a score of 75.095%, an identical personal best result to the same class at Aachen last September.

This was the ninth win in 12 starts for Frederic and Quizmaster since the pair began competing in Wellington, Florida in February last year.

Fellow German Ingrid Klimke, an Olympic eventing gold medalist, placed second on Freudentänzer, a nine-year-old Westfalen, gelding placed second on 73.912%, the first international competition for the horse.

Switzerland’s Andrina Suter and Del Curto were third on 72.441%

Americans Ashley Holzer on Bliss, a 10-year-old Oldenburg mare, was fourth on 71.853% and Charlotte Jorst on Zhaplin Langholt, a nine-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding was fifth on 71.674%.
