GEESTEREN, Netherlands, June 10, 2022–Anne Meulendijks rode Issey to victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Friday in the nine-year-old’s first international competition.
Anne and the KWPN gelding owned by Anky van Grunsven scored 71.348% for the win and to lead a Dutch sweep of the top seven places. The 28-year-old Anne was successful in European Junior, Young Rider and Under-25 Championships and rode MDH Avanti in the 2019 Europeans for team silver.
Anky was one of the most successful riders with seven Olympics to her credit earning three individual gold and one silver medal as well as four team silver and one bronze. She best known as the Queen of the Freestyle with six World Cup titles. Her last international dressage competition was the London Olympics in 2012. Since then she competed in reining, including team bronze at the 2015 Europeans as well as coaching.
Denise Nekeman on Boston STH, a 16-year-old KWPN stallion, was second on 70.087%.
Kirsten Beckers and Easy Quo, 13-year-old KWPN gelding, was third on 70.000%.
