COMPIÈGNE, France, May 20, 2022–Britain’s Gareth Hughes and Classic Briolinca won the CDI3* Grand Prix Friday in the first international competition in more than 1 1/2 years for the 16-year-old mare.
Gareth and the KWPN that partnered on the British team at the 2019 European Championships were awarded 76.152% for the win in the campaign for a start at the world championships in Herning, Denmark in early August.
Sweden’s Patrik Kittel riding Blue Hors Zepter placed second on 75.782% in the first full length Grand Prix since taking the reins on the 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding that was previously competed by Denmark’s Daniel Bachmann Andersen.
Charlotte Fry on Dark Legend was third on 73.543%. Charlotte and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding competed at the World Cup Final last month and have been on British teams at senior, under-25 and young rider European Championships.
Charlotte Dujardin and Imhotep were fourth on 72.804%. This was the first international competition for the former world No. 1 rider and the nine-year-old KWPN gelding.
