AALBORG, Denmark, May 13, 2022–Andreas Helgstrand rode Jovian to victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Friday for a double victory in the Big Tour debut of the eight-year-old two-time world young horse champion.
Andreas and the KWPN stallion scored 77.872% for the win after posting a result of 77.109% in the Grand Prix Thursday. Danish judge Kirsten Soegaard awarded the highest score, 81.489%, in the Special.
Jovian’s extended trot earned three marks of 10 and the second passage one maximum score of 10.
The scores were the highest for first CDI Grand Prix and Special results by any of the horses that went on to become No. 1 in the world since Edward Gal and Totilas in 2009 who logged 79.149% at Grand Prix in Rotterdam and 83.042% in the duo’s first Special, at the European Championships the same year.
Denmark’s Daniel Bachmann Andersen on Zippo M.I., a 10-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding also making Big Tour debut, was second on 72.000%.
Olympic and World Cup rider for Denmark Carina Cassøe Krüth on Heiline’s Zackton placed third on 70.277%. This was the third CDI Grand Prix for the 10-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding since debuting at Big Tour two months ago.
