Emmy de Jeu, the well-known Dutch dressage horse breeder, has sold her business to the Belgian company MH Dressage owned by Klara Hulselmans and Lorens Michielsen.

As of next week, everything that Emmy has built including broodmares, foals and young horses will move to the new owners at Kalmthout, Belgium.

“This is a lottery ticket for me,” said Emmy, the 2013 KWPN Breeder of the Year. “I’ve reached a point in my life where I’d like to take a step back from horse breeding and horse sport. But you can’t just let go of everything; it’s tough to put your activities in the hands of someone you trust. But, for me, that dream has now become a reality.”

The sale happened when Klara and Lorens responded to an advertisement that Emmy had placed for a mare that became pregnant after the ad was placed.

“But that was no problem,” she said. “In fact, they came for that one mare but went home with with my entire breeding program!””

As of 2022, the foals born from Emmy de Jeu’s breeding, will bear the suffix “MH de Jeu” rather than the well-known “De Jeu.”
