The International Olympic Committee on Friday urged all international federations to relocate or cancel sports events currently planned in Russia or Belarus–essentially boycott–as a reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The FEI sports calendar shows 11 dressage events in Russia and two in Belarus are scheduled for the rest of this year. Three dressage events are also scheduled for Ukraine.

The IOC Executive Board reiterated the organizations “strong condemnation of the breach of the Olympic Truce by the Russian government and the government of Belarus through its support in this.”

The IOC also “urges that no Russian or Belarussian national flag be displayed and no Russian or Belarussian anthem be played in international sports events which are not already part of the respective World Anti-Doping Agency sanctions for Russia.

“The IOC EB expresses its deep concerns about the safety of the members of the Olympic community in Ukraine and stands in full solidarity. It notes that the special IOC task force is in contact with the Olympic community in the country to coordinate humanitarian assistance where possible.”
