WELLINGTON, Florida, Jan. 30, 2022–German team rider Frederic Wandres rode Dolciario to victory Sunday in the Summit Farm Future Challenge Prix St. Georges for horses aged seven to nine years.
Frederic and Dolciario, eight-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Danciano x Don Frederico) scored 72.156% for the win that qualifies the pair for the circuit-ending final. Dolciario is owned by Hof Kasselmann of Hagen, Germany for whom Frederic rides.
Bianca Berktold of Loxahatchee, a neighboring community to Wellington, placed second on Imperial on a score of 72.009%. Imperial is an eight-year-old KWPN mare Charmeur x Vivaldi) and earned an invitation to the final at the end of March.
Kelly Layne, Florida-based Australian Olympic rider, and the 10-year-old Fernando was the sole starting combination in the Lövsta Future Challenge Intermediate II and scored 70.490% to clinch a place in the developing Grand Prix final. Kelly has been competing Fernando, a Hanoverian gelding (Foundation x Sandro Hit) through the levels for the past four years. The horse is owned by Ellen Trouille of Germany.
