WELLINGTON, Florida, Jan. 27, 2022–British team partnership of Susan Pape and Harmony’s Eclectisch posted a personal best score to win the CDI4* Grand Prix Thursday for their first Big Tour victory.
Susan and the 13-year-old KWPN stallion scored 73.239% for the win in this year’s second competition on the Wellington winter circuit on which she has been a regular for the past seven years competing horses for Harmony Amateur Sports Foundation of Kiowa, Colorado.
Sweden’s Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén and Devanto placed second on 69.087% with Diane Creech of Canada on Chrevis Christo third on 67.217%.
The previous best for Susan, based in Germany, was 72.956% at Mannheim, Germany last April. The pair competed for Great Britain on the bronze medal team at the Nations Cup in Aachen, Germany last September.
“Oh, fabulous,” was Susan’s description of the ride. “I mean, absolutely great. And no mistakes, no rubber legs–myself, because I sometimes have a little bit of a problem with the changes, but it’s not the horse. I know it’s me. It’s always the rider I think. But today he was really focused, and I was focused.”
Paula Matute Guimón, who rides for Spain but is based in Wellington, rode Delagronge to a personal best score to win the CDI4* Grand Prix for the Freestyle. Christoph Koschel of Germany on Favorito was runner-up on 68.304% with Mikala Münter of Wellington on Salsa Hit third on 66.696%.
