KRONBERG, Germany, Dec. 18, 2021–Straight Horse Ascenzione was ridden by Germany’s Helen Langehanenberg to victory in the opening round of the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal and placed third on Schöne Scarlett in the national championship for Prix St. Georges horses aged seven to nine.
Helen and Straight Horse Ascenzione, eight-year-old Danish Warmblood mare (Blue Hors Zack x Blue Hors Don Schufro) scored 76.975% for the win at the Schafhof, the home of the Linsenhoff/Rath family that organizes the event, as the coronavirus pandemic prevented it being held in the usual center in the city for the second year.
Frederic Wandres, a German team mate of Helen, and Quizmaster, nine-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Quasar de Charry x Velten Third) were second on 75.487%. Helen and Schöne Scarlett, eight-year-old Hanoverian mare (Scolari x Londonderry) placed third on 75.390%.
Isabel Freese of Norway rode Total Hope OLD to victory in the first round of the Louisdor Prize, the German championship for developing Grand Prix horses aged eight to 10.
Isabel and the nine-year-old Oldenburg stallion (Totilas x Blue Hors Don Schufro) scored 75.419% for the win. The pair captured the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal in 2019.
Frederic Wandres and Hot Hit, 10-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Blue Hors Hotline x Diamond Hit) were runner-up on 73.372%.
The finals of both the Lousidor Prize and the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal will be held Sunday.
