Claire Darnell and Harrold S and Amelia Newcomb and Harvard, both based on the West Coast and both in the Kundrun U.S. Equestrian Federation dressage development program, have each been awarded $25,000 Carol Lavell Advanced Dressage Prizes, The Dressage Foundation announced Saturday.
Claire, 35, of Mount Vernon, Washington, and Harrold S, nine-year-old KWPN gelding will use the grant to go to Wellington, Florida for training with 2012 Olympian Jan Ebeling and Nick Wagman, U.S. team reserve for the Tokyo Games.
Amelia, 34, of Simi Valley, California, and Harvard, also a nine-year-old KWPN gelding, will train with Johann Hinnemann and Christine Traurig.
Since its creation in 2009, the Carol Lavell Prize Fund has made 18 awards totaling $450,000 in support of U.S. high performance teams.
