HERNING, Denmark, Oct. 23, 2021–Patrik Kittel rode Touchdown to victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Saturday for the fourth victory in four starts since beginning Big Tour a month ago.
Patrik and the nine-year-old Swedish Warmblood stallion was awarded 78.383% by the five-member ground jury, including a mark of 80.532% from British judge Peter Storr.
The Grand Prix results here surpassed the debut Grand Prix score in Germany exactly a month ago. The duo performed the Freestyle in the opening event.
Patrik, based in Germany, is a three-time Olympian for Sweden and currently the highest ranked rider for his nation. He was selected for Sweden’s team for the Olympics Games but pulled out when Well Done de la Roche CMF, that he rode at the Tryon World Equestrian Games in 2016 and won individual bronze at the 2019 European Championships, sustained a minor injury at Tokyo just days before the Games. Just this week, he withdrew Fioninti from this World Cup when the horse was sold to Anna Buffini of the United States.
The top three places were the same as in the Grand Prix.
Jeanna Hogberg, a fellow Swede, and the nine-year-old Astoria scored 71.468% in the Special.
Australia’s Lyndal Oatley, married to Patrik, and Eros was third on 71.277%
