Cathrine Dufour has entered Cassidy as her partner in the opening leg of the World Cup Western European League in Herning, Denmark next week to launch a bid by the Danish star for a start in the annual global championship back on schedule after canceled for the past two years because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Cassidy, now 18 years old after an international career begun by Cathrine in 2010 earning medals at five European Championships–two juniors, two young riders and one senior as well as being on Denmark’s 2016 Olympic team–has not competed since February 2020. Cathrine focused on Bohemian, the 11-year-old Westfalen gelding for the Tokyo Olympics in July and European Championships Freestyle silver and Grand Prix Special and team bronze medals last month to become No. 2 in the world.

Cathrine and Cassidy, a Danish Warmblood gelding, are on the list of 15 definite entries for Herning, one of nine qualifying competitions in Western Europe for the Final in Leipzig, Germany next April 6-10. Qualifiers in Stuttgart, Germany and Salzburg, Austria have been canceled.

The Pacific League for one Final place has not held a World Cup event for the past two years and none are scheduled in Australia or New Zealand, though several combinations based in Europe and the United States could seek to qualify.
