LUDWIGSBURG, Germany, Sept. 26, 2021–Dorothee Schneider rode First Romance to victory in the Ludwigsburg Dressage Festival CDI4* Grand Prix Special Sunday in the 11-year-old horse’s first Big Tour competition.
Dorothee, a multiple Olympic team gold medal rider for Germany, and the Baden-Württemberg gelding scored 72.404%. Mistakes in both the one and two-tempi changes dropped the score that had begun well above 77%.
Dorothee had won seven of eight previous international competitions on First Romance (Fuerst Romancier x Day Dream)
beginning at five years of age through Small Tour in 2018.
Fellow Germans Jasmin Schaudt on Fano posted a personal best 71.170% for runner-up, the highest placing so far in the pair’s third Special. and Nicole Wego-Engelmeyer on Dante placed third on 70.702%, also a personal best in their first Special.
