HAGEN, Germany, Sept. 10, 2021–Germany’s Jessica Süss and Duisenberg posted a personal best score to win the CDI3* Grand Prix Friday and claim the first Big Tour victory for the partnership. Ben Ebeling on Iluster van de Kampert placed third in only the American rider’s second senior Grand Prix in Europe.
Jessica and the 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding were awarded 72.152% for the first CDI win since starting Big Tour 15 months ago.
Sandra Nuxoll, also of Germany, and Bonheur de la Vie placed second on 71.848%.
Ben Ebeling and Illuster, 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, scored 70.282% for third in the lineup of 29 starting combinations from 13 nations in light rain in the late afternoon competition.
Ben, 21, of Moorpark, California, rode Illuster on the U.S. Nations Cup team at Rotterdam two months ago and the duo have been named to the American team at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany next week. He showed at this same venue in Young Rider team competitions for the U.S. in 2018 and 2019 as well as at other European shows.
The pair came to Europe following a successful Global Dressage Festival winter circuit in Wellington, Florida to compete on the senior tour and continue training with Christoph Koschel who is based at Hagen where the European Championships are being staged.
