CROZET, France, Aug. 20, 2021–German Olympic gold medalist Dorothee Schneider rode DSP Sammy Davis Jr. to victory in the Jiva Hill CDI3* Grand Prix Friday with compatriot Matthias Alexander Rath competing Destacado FRH in the eight-year-old stallion’s Big Tour debut for runner-up.

Dorothee and the 15-year-old Bavarian gelding scored 75.957% for the win, the first individual international victory this year for Dorothee. She was on the team with Showtime FRH at Tokyo for their second Olympic team gold medal and three months after sustaining a broken collar bone when a horse collapsed under her during an awards ceremony.

Matthias and Destacado, a Hanoverian stallion, were awarded 72.717% for second place. The pair was successful in young horse competitions, earning silver as a five-year-old at the World Young Horse Championships and fourth place in the world six-year-old championships. The duo won the 2020 Nürnberger Burg-Pokal, the Germany’s prestigious championship for Small Tour.

The Netherlands’ Jill Huijbregts on Enzos Armani were third on a personal best 71.783%.
