Rose Oatley on Daddy Moon at the European Championships

STRZEGEM, Poland, Aug. 14, 2021–Rose Oatley and Daddy Moon posted a personal best score and less than one-10th of a point from the world record to win European Pony Championships individual gold Saturday, two days after setting a pony team record.

The 14-year-old Rose and Daddy Moon (FS Daddy Cool x Capri Moon), 11-year-old Rhinelander gelding scored 82.270% for the win, bettering the pair’s previous best of 77.388% logged in November, 2019. Lucie-Anouk Baumgürtel of Germany on Zinq Nasdaq FH holds the individual record of 82.351% from the 2020 Europeans.

Team mate Antonia Roth on Daily Pleasure WE also posted a personal best 81.027% to place second as the duo did individually in the team competition.

Sophia Boje Obel Jorgensen on Adriano B, who led Denmark to silver in the team contest, placed third on 79.676%, also a personal best, beating the 79.000% logged at the 2020 Europeans

Rose, No. 1 pony rider in the world the for the past 18 months, posted a record of 82.629% on Thursday to lead Germany to their 35th European pony team gold. She is the daughter of four-time Olympian Kristy Oatley who rides for Australia but lives in Germany.
