DEAUVILLE, France, July 16, 2021–Matthias Alexander Rath rode Foundation to victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix Friday for the first Big Tour win for the German partnership.
Matthias and the 13-year-old Hanoverian stallion were awarded 72.522% for the win that came after three years at Big Tour. The pair were successful at Medium and Small Tour with 15 victories in 19 starts before moving up to Grand Prix in 2018.
The Nethjerlands’ Jill Huijbregts and Enzos Armani placed second on 71.130% in just the second Big Tour competition for the duo that competed through Small Tour and in the Under-25 division. The pair’s one previous international Grand Prix was almost two years ago.
Great Britain’s Laura Tomlinson on Fallatijn was third on 71.000% and fourth on DSP Rose of Bavaria with 70.043%.
