Britain’s dressage team of Charlotte Dujardin on Gio, Charlotte Fry on Everdale and Carl Hester on En Vogue was announced Thursday. Gareth Hughes on Sintano van hof Olympia was named reserve.
Charlatte said Gio was selected over Mount St. John Freestyle because she and the selectors thought the 10-year-old gelding “is the horse for the team for these Games.”
Tokyo will be third Olympics for Charlotte, having won individual gold in London in 2012 and at Rio de Janeiro in 2016, while for Carl it will be his sixth Olympics.
