KRONBERG, Germany, June 25, 2021–Isabell Werth and Bella Rose scored near 85% to win the Schafhof CDI4* Grand Prix for the Special Friday while Dorothee Schneider on Showtime FRH and Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on TSF Dalera BB were above 81% a month to the Olympic Games.
Isabell, the most successful equestrian in history with 10 Olympic medals, and the 17-year-old Westfalen mare were awarded 84.978% to log the 23rd straight victory for the world No. 1 ranked partnership. For Isabell, 51, Tokyo will be her sixth Olympics. She has won six gold and four silver medals in her previous Olympics going back to Barcelona in 1992.
Dorothee Schneider on Showtime, a 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding, placed second on a personal best 81.522%, surpassing the previous high of 80.986% posted at the 2016 Olympics.
Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on TSF Dalera BB, a 14-year-old Trakehner mare, was third on 81.326% to overcome mistakes that dropped the world No. 3 pair well below 70% before the duo recovered.
The three top placed combinations were on the 2019 European Championship gold medal team.
The Grand Prix Special is the banner event as it will decide team medals in Tokyo in a month.
Earlier Friday, Isabell rode DSP Quantaz to a score of 80.022% to win the Grand Prix for the Freestyle.
