COMPIÈGNE, France, May 29, 2021–Carina Cassøe Krüth on Heiline’s Danciera posted a Grand Prix personal best score to give Denmark a narrow lead over Sweden midway through the CDIO5* Nations Cup Saturday. Portugal was in third place with the Grand Prix Special and Freestyle competitions Sunday to decide the medals.
Sweden’s Patrik Kittel on Well Done de la Roche CMF, 13-year-old Swiss Warmblood mare that competed in the 2018 World Equestrian Games and the 2019 European Championships, topped the Grand Prix with a score of 78.065%.
However, Carina and the 10-year-old Danish Warmblood mare scored 77.000% for second place with team mate Cathrine Dufour on Bohemian in third on 76.500% and Charlotte Heering on Bufranco in sixth on 73.435% to give Denmark a one point lead over Sweden.
Juliette Ramel on Buriel K.H. placed fourth on 75.522% and her sister Antonia Ramel on Brother de Jeu in eighth on 73.283%.
Portugal’s João Miguel Torrao with 73.174% for ninth led his team to third place.
This Nations Cup is the second in this year’s trans-Atlantic series, the first in Wellington, Florida won by Germany in March. The series was canceled in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic and this year’s lineup has been cut to four events.
