ORNAGO, Italy, May 9, 2021–Simone Pearce on Amandori won the CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday to complete a sweep of four victories in four Big Tour starts that was the most successful event for the Australian rider in a decade in Europe.
Simone and 10-year-old German Sport Horse stallion scored 76.450% for the win in their first Big Tour musical performance, and only the second CDI at Grand Prix level. The pair scored 72.957% to win the Grand Prix earlier and give them the first of two scores above 69% required for consideration for the Australian team at the Tokyo Olympics in 11 weeks.
Jan-Dirk van de Water of the Netherlands on Hexagon’s Grandville was second on 74.245% with Antonella Joannou of Switzerland on Dandy de la Roche CMF third on 73.070%.
The 29-year-old Simone, based in Germany, continued success on Destano, a 14-year-old Hanoverian stallion, with victories here in the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special to add to their standing as the top ranked Aussie combination for the Tokyo Games.
