MARIAKALNOK, Hungary, May 9, 2021–Lyndal Oatley and Elvive won the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Sunday two days after capturing the Grand Prix on scores at this debut Big Tour event for the mare to give the Australian rider a second Olympic team prospect.

Lyndal, a two-time Olympian, and the 12-year-old KWPN mare scored 73.638% in the Special after posting 73.087% in winning the Grand Prix Friday.

The Netherlands’ Thamar Zweistra on Hexagon’s Ich Weiss was second on 72.809% with Austria’s Katharina Haas on Let It Be third on 69.064%.

On Eros, at this same event, she obtained her second of two Grand Prix scores required for consideration for the team of three for the Olympics set to open in Tokyo in less than 11 weeks. Lyndal and Eros scored 69.413% in the Grand Prix and 74.760% in the Freestyle. The duo posted results of 70.957% in the Grand Prix and 70.808% in the Special in Denmark last October.

Both horses competed by the Germany-based Lyndal are owned by her parents, Carol and Andrew.

Lyndal rode Sandro Boy on Australian teams at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the 2014 World Equestrian Games, and Potifar at the 2010 World Games.
