VERDEN, Germany, May 8, 2021–The championship team partnership of Therese Nilshagen and Dante Weltino OLD won the CDI3* Grand Prix Saturday with the highest score by a Swedish combination this year and 11 weeks to the start of the Tokyo Olympics.

Therese and the 14-year-old Oldenburg stallion scored 74.391% in their first competition in eight months. The duo led Sweden’s team to bronze at the 2017 European Championships and was on teams at the 2018 World Equestrian Games and the 2019 Europeans.

Germany’s Carina Scholz on Tarantino, a 14-year-old Hanoverian, placed second on 73.739% to match the pair’s previous best score set last month.

Finland’s Emma Kanerva riding Greek Air in the Big Tour debut of the 10-year-old ZfDP gelding placed third on 73.196%. The pair’s only previous international competition was in the seven-year-old division of the World Young Horse Championships in 2018.
