HAGEN, Germany, April 24, 2021–Charlotte Dujardin and Mount St. John Freestyle captured the Horses & Dreams CDI4* Grand Prix Special to Music, overcoming a personal best score by Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl on TSF Dalera BB just 0.319% behind.
Charlotte and the 12-year-old Hanoverian mare scored 82.872% for the win, riding after Jessica and Dalera had posted a score of 82.553%. The result for the German combination, on their nation’s gold medal teams at the 2018 World Games and the 2019 European Championships, bettered their previous best of 81.723% posted in August last year.
Isabell Werth on DSP Quantaz placed third on 80.340% with fellow German Benjamin Werndl, the brother of Jessica, on Daily Mirror in fourth on a personal best 76.468%.
Great Britain’s Charlotte Fry riding Glamourdale in the pair’s first Big Tour placed fifth on 76.404%. The pair were World Young Horse Champions in the seven-year-old division in 2018 and a year later won all four starts at Small Tour.
The win for Charlotte traded places with Jessica and the 14-year-old Trakehner mare from the Grand Prix a day earlier when both scored above 81% with the margin between the two was 0.195%.
