The Portugal dressage Nations Cup that was to be the first for the nation in the trans-Atlantic series has been canceled for the second year in a row in the wake of the equine herpes virus and the continuing coronavirus pandemic. Falsterbo, Sweden set for July has also been canceled.

The CDIO3* at Abrantes was put off from 2020 because of coronavirus and was scheduled for April 23-25, less than two weeks after the end of the lockdown in several European nations following an outbreak of EHV-1 in neighboring Spain in February.

The Nations Cup in Portugal, which has qualified a team for the Olympics in Tokyo in July, was one of six team competitions on the schedule for this year. Team competitions for Under-25, Young Rider, Juniors, Juniors, Children and Pony divisions were also canceled.

However, the CDI3* and other individual competitions are still scheduled to go ahead.

The CDIO3* at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida was staged successfully last month to open the series that was launched in 2013 but canceled in 2020 because of coronavirus.

Still on the calendar for this year are Nations Cups in Compiègne, France May 27-30; Rotterdam, Netherlands June 24-27, and Aachen, Germany Sept. 14-19.
