WELLINGTON, Florida, Jan. 17, 2021–USA’s Alice Tarjan on Donatella M won the inaugural Lövsta Future Challenge developing Grand Prix Final at the Global Dressage Festival Sunday while Canada’s Pia Fortmuller on Frieda captured the Summit Farms developing Prix St. Georges title.

Both horses are 10-year-old mares and share the same sire, Fuerstenball OLD, and won the finals of the two divisions from a series of qualifiers during the 2020 Global winter circuit. Like most sporting events in the world, the Global circuit wrapped up before the finals could be held last year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The finals with $15,000 prize money for the Grand Prix of horses aged eight to 10 and $10,000 for St. Georges for horses aged seven to nine were both staged in the centerpiece international arena before panels of five international judges.

Susan Dutta of Wellington, Florida on Don Design DC placed second on 72.394% in the Grand Prix with Germany’s Michael Klimke on Harmony’s Diabolo third on 70.815%.

In the St. Georges, Jodie Kelly-Baxley of Destin, Florida on Grayton Beach were second on 72.734% and Australia’s Kelly Layne, based in Wellington, third on Fernando on a score of 71.911%.

Antonia Ax:son Johnson announced that her Lövsta of Sweden would sponsor the series for 2021 and Equestrian Sport Productions said the Prix St. Georges would also continue for a third year.
