Taylor Rowsey, an American dressage rider and trainer, has received an administrative sanction after the prohibited substance Gabapentin was found in her horse Demetrios at the CDI1* in Thermal, California in November.
The case of the 33-year-old rider based in San Diego, California was reported on the FEI table of administrative sanctions.
Demetrios is a nine-year-old Rhinelander gelding that was being competed at international level for the first time at Small Tour in the Thermal CDI1* Nov. 12-15.
The horse was disqualified as a result of the finding of Gabapentin, a prescription drug most commonly used to relieve nerve pain and for epilepsy in humans.
Germany’s Carina Scholz also received an administration sanction for the finding of acepromazine in Tarantino, a 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding, at the dressage World Cup at Zakrzow, Poland Oct. 22-25.
