WELLINGTON, Florida, Dec. 12, 2020–Yvonne Losos De Muñiz of Dominican Republic rode Aquamarijn to a personal best score to win the Global Dressage Fall Festival World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday.
Yvonne, and the 15-year-old KWPN mare beginning the fifth year of their partnership scored 79.625% to eclipse the previous high result of 78.910% set at the same Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in mid-March, the week that horse sports were halted world wide due to the coronavirus pandemic. The pair won the Grand Prix Friday.
Susan Dutta of Wellington on Figeac DC was runner-up on 74.510%, also a personal best freestyle result.
Susie and Figeac first began their competition partnership almost seven years ago in young horse events. She and the Oldenburg gelding now 11 years old, moved up to Big Tour in Europe 15 months ago.
Yvonne plans to compete Aquamarijn during the winter-long Global Festival in a campaign to go to the World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden in April, the same city where the duo competed in the annual championship centered around the musical performance in 2019.
Yvonne, who has already qualified for the Olympics in Tokyo in July, placed first on Aquamarijn in the Big Tour Freestyle at the Pan American Games of mixed level competition in Lima, Peru last year.
