ALTER DO CHÃO, Portugal, Nov. 28, 2020–Portugal’s João Miguel Torrao and Equador posted a personal best score for the second day to win the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Saturday and the pair’s sixth straight victory this year.

João and the 11-year-old Lusitano stallion scored 79.042% for the win, a day after capturing the Grand Prix with a personal best result in what is the last dressage competition on the calendar in Europe for 2020 with all other events canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The previous high Special score was 77.468 awarded three months ago to the pair that has competed at Big Tour for 20 months and was on Portugal’s team at the 2019 European Championships.

João, standing at 39th in the world, became the top ranked Portuguese rider on the global rankings in August, taking over Maria Caetano on Coroado. 

Daniel Pinto on Santurion de Massa placed  second on 76.362% while Maria on Fenix de Tineo was third on 72.490%.
