THERMAL, California, Nov. 20, 2020–Steffen Peters and Suppenkasper won the Thermal Desert Dressage CDI3* Grand Prix Friday to lengthen their undefeated streak to 14 this year while U.S. team mate Sabine Schut-Kery on Sanceo posted a personal best score for runner-up.
Steffen and the 12-year-old KWPN gelding scored 77.348% in the second Tokyo Olympic selection qualifying competition for the World Equestrian Games silver medal team partnership.
Steffen of San Diego, California is seeking to ride in his fifth Olympics.
Sabine of Thousand Oaks, California and Sanceo were awarded 74.475% to beat the previous high of 73.674% set at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida in February.
Sabine and the Hanoverian stallion, now 14 years old were team mates of Steffen, at the 2015 Pan American Games where she rode at Small Tour for team gold.
Sabine’s first championship with Sanceo was as a six-year-old at the world young horse finals.
Catherine Haddad Staller of Califon, New Jersey and Frankie placed third on 69.565% in only their second Big Tour. Catherine bred Frankie, a Hanoverian mare 11 years old, in Germany.
