Charlotte Jorst and Kastel’s Nintendo posted their highest Grand Prix score in almost four years to win the Thermal Desert Dressage World Cup Friday in their campaign to earn a start at the Final in Gothenburg, Sweden scheduled for next April.
Charlotte of Reno, Nevada and the 17-year-old KWPN stallion scored 72.261% for the win, the second highest Grand Prix result in a Big Tour career nearing seven years. The win, the second in consecutive weeks at the Desert International Horse Park, was at a score surpassed only by 73.080% the duo logged at Wellington, Florida in January 2017.
Charlotte and Nintendo are on course to go to the top of the North American League standings in the rider’s bid to be one of two combinations assured an invitation to the Final in Gothenburg where they competed in 2016.
Dawn White-O’Connor and Bailarino placed second on 66.674%. The 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding was competed by Steffen Peters through 2017. Dawn, a former assistant trainer to Steffen, first competed the horse at Big Tour in April 2019.
Carly Taylor-Smith of Somis, California on Rosalut NHF was third on 66.192%.
