MILL SPRING, North Carolina, Oct. 25, 2020–Abraham Pugh and Elfenperekt won the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday for the rider’s first ever Big Tour double victory in the first qualifier in the Americas for the 2021 Final.

Abraham of Greencastle, Pennsylvania and the 14-year-old American-bred Trakehner stallion scored 74.010% for the win, after capturing the Grand Friday in the first CDI in the Americas since coronavirus led to suspension of horse sports worldwide in mid-March.

Julio Mendoza, an Ecuadoran rider based in nearby Columbus, North Carolina, and Rosali placed second on 73.990% in the starting lineup for the freestyle that had been whittled down to four after one combination did not earn a qualifying score in the Grand Prix.
