RIESENBECK, Germany, Sept. 13, 2020–Rose Oatley and Daddy Moon won the German Pony Championship Sunday, defending the title the partnership claimed in 2019.

Rose, the 13-year-old daughter of Australian Olympian Kristy Oatley who has long lived in Germany, and Daddy Moon won all three competitions to become champions–78.55, 80.37 and 85.05 for a total of 243.96.

This has been a successful year for Rose and the 10-year-old Rhinelander gelding, despite the shortened competition calendar due to coronavirus.

In their two competitions in 2020, the pair posted two victories at the international Mariakalnok, Hungary in June and team gold and individual bronze at the European Championships last month.

“I’m incredibly proud of our performance,” Rose said. “Daddy Moon already felt great in the warm-up test. In the second rating, my mom was close to tears when I rode. And after the freestyle, when we saw that I got 85 percent, our feelings exploded.”

Antonia Roth and the stallion Daily Pleasure WE took silver and Lana-Pinou Baumgürtel and Massimiliano FH bronze.
