VERDEN, Germany, Aug. 9, 2020–Isabel Freese rode Top Gear, an eight-year-old stallion by Totilas, to victory Sunday in the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal.

The Norwegian rider and the Oldenburg stallion (Totilas x Don Frederico) scored 77.317% for the win in the fifth of 12 qualifiers to earn a start at the the Christmas final in Frankfurt for horses seven to nine years old.

Top Gear is the second horse Isabel has qualified for this year’s final, having won on Fürsten-Look in the kickoff event at Prix St. Georges Special level.

Isabel rode Total Hope, a Totilas son by embryo transfer to Weihegold OLD, to the title in 2019.

Finland’s Emma Kanerva on Mist of Titanium placed second on 75.415% with Germany’s Marcus Hermes on Hugo FH third on a score of 74.683%

The next qualifier is CHI Donaueschingen Aug. 28-30.
