HAGEN, Germany, July 18, 2020–Germany’s Frederic Wandres and Duke of Britain won the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday night, in the first international event in Germany since the coronavirus lockdown in mid-March.
Frederic and the 13-year-old Hanoverian gelding were awarded 80.360% for the musical performance under lights and a day after posting a personal best score of 75.848% in the Grand Prix.
Sönke Rothenberger and Santiano placed second on 77.750% with Antonia Ramel of Sweden on Brother de Jeu third on 77.050%.
This was the sixth Big Tour competition for Sönke and the 12-year-old German Sport Horse gelding (San Amour x Lord Sinclair) that began their Grand Prix partnership in April 2019.
The 25-year-old German rider is best known for performances on Cosmo that he rode to team gold at both the 2016 Olympics and 2018 World Equestrian Games as well as the 2017 and 2019 European Championships which was the last competition for the duo.
Antonia and Brother De Jeu, 14-year-old KWPN gelding, have competed on five Nations Cups for Sweden, and were on the team at the European Championships last August.
