BETTENRODE, Germany, July 12, 2020–Dorothee Schneider on Villeneuve, an eight-year-old Rhinelander stallion, won the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal at Bettenröder Dressage Days Sunday to earn a start at the year-end German Small Tour championship.
Dorothee and Villeneuve (Vitalis x Dancier) scored 77.220% for the victory in the third qualifier for the Frankfurt final Dec. 17-20. The series for horses aged seven to nine years was rearranged this year due to coronavirus.
Fellow German team Olympian Hubertus Schmidt on Vainqueur, seven-year-old Hanoverian stallion, placed second on 75.195%.
Villeneuve, owned by Sissy Max-Theurer, was reserve champion as a six-year-old at the World Young Horse Championships ridden by Laura Strobel.
The next competition in the 12-event qualifying lineup is Darmstadt-Kranichstein July 23-26.
