DOHA, Qatar, Feb. 29, 2020–Patrik Kittel and Delaunay OLD won the CDI5* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday for a double victory at the Al Shaqab event.
Patrik and the 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding on Sweden’s team at the 2017 European Championships and in last year’s World Cup Final, scored 79.290% for the win. The pair won the Grand Prix Friday.
Morgan Barbançon and Sir Donnerhall II OLD, France’s leading combination, scored 76.450% to place second, as the duo did in the Grand Prix. Morgan and Sir Donnerhall competed at the European Championships last September.
Spain’s Juan Matute Guimon and Quantico were third on 76.400%. Juan began Quantico’s career as a young rider at Florida’s Global Dressage Festival in 2014 and was on Spain’s team at the European Under-25 Championship in 2017 and the World Equestrian Games in Tryon in 2018.
Ireland’s Kate Dwyer on Snowdon Faberge won the Grand Prix Special on a personal best score of 70.043%.
