OLDENBURG, Germany, Nov. 2, 2019–Germany’s Hubertus Schmidt and Escolar posted a personal best score to win the CDI4* Grand Prix Special Saturday for a double victory to complete the 10-year-old horse’s first year at Big Tour.
Hubertus, a 2004 Olympic team gold medalist, and the 10-year-old Westfalen stallion scored 75.511% 75.511% a day after taking the Grand Prix and to bring to three the number of victories in nine starts so far. The first win was the pair’s debut performance in November, 2018.
German 2012 Olympic rider Anabel Balkenhol on FRH Davinia la Douce, a 12-year-old Hanoverian mare, were second on 71.596% in just the second Grand Prix Special for the pair that began Big Tour in May.
Laura Tomlinson of Great Britain on Rose of Bavaria, a nine-year-old Bavarian mare, making their international debut here, was third on 71.404%
