ZAKRZÓW, Poland, Oct. 25, 2019–The Netherlands’ Anne Meulendijks and MDH Avanti won the World Cup Grand Prix Friday, the last event in the Central European circuit leading to the final in Las Vegas next April.

Anne and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding scored 72.652% for the win in the pair’s first competition since competing on the Dutch team at the European Championships two months ago.

Austria’s Christian Schumach on Donna Karacho placed second on 71.130% in only the second Big Tour event for the 12-year-old Westfalen mare.

Tommie Visser of the Netherlands and Chuppy Checker were third on 70.696%.

Results of this competition will have no impact on the Central European standings and its allocation of two starts in the Final. Belarus riders Hanna Karasiova and Olga Safronova took the top two places. But as only one rider from a country can compete at the final, Russia’s Inessa Merkulova is next in line for an invitation to Las Vegas.

Western European riders can earn points for their circuit that began last week.

The Grand Prix Freestyle to determine points is scheduled for Saturday.
