MINSK, Belarus, Oct. 20, 2019–Hanna Karasiova and Olga Safronova took the top placings in the Minsk World Cup Freestyle Sunday to give the Belarus riders an unbeatable lead in the Central European League.
Hanna and Zodiak won the event with a score of 75.145% while Olga and Sandro D Amour were second on 73.410%.
However,Belarus will gets only one invitation to the Final in Las Vegas next April as the rules allow only one rider from any nation.
Malaysia’s Mohd Qabil Ambak Dato’ Mahamad on Delatio was third on 71.660%.
Russia’s Inessa Merkulova on Arums placed fourth on 71.605% but the placing did not provide enough points in the Central European League to catch the top two.
No riders in Central Europe’s last qualifier in Zakrzow, Poland later this week have enough points to be be able to overtake the top two.
Hanna Karasiova, 35, and Zodiak, 11-year-old Latvian-bred gelding, competed at the 2018 Final in Paris and on Arlekino at the 2017 Final in Omaha.
Olga Safronova, 27, rode Sandro D Amour in the Final in Gothenburg earlier this year. She has never competed outside Europe, according to the FEI database.
Hanna has accumulated 77 points and Olga 69.
Correction:This report corrects an earlier version that stated two riders from Belarus earned an invitation to the Las Vegas Final.
