KHARKIV, Ukraine, Sept. 14, 2019–Olga Safronova of Belarus rode Sandro D Amour to a personal best score to win the World Cup Freestyle Saturday and jumped to the top of the Central European standings.
Olga and the 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding were awarded 76.500% in her fifth Central European qualifier seeking to earn one of the two places available in the league for the final in Las Vegas next April.
The Ukraine’s Inna Logutenkova on Fleraro placed second on 75.745%. The pair are at the top of the Western European League where they have opted to compete this season with two victories earlier in the season. The Western European circuit starts next month, but riders can earn limited points in other leagues.
Hanna Karasiova also of Belarus on Zodiak was third on 73.890% that gave her a total of 67 points, one point behind Olga Safronova.
The result for the 27-year-old Olga and the Belarus-bred Sandro D Amour Belarus in the 10th of 15 qualifiers scheduled for Central Europe this season was the second highest so far among the 27 horse and rider combinations from 10 nations that have earned ranking points.
The Belarus duo have competed through young horse classes and Small Tour before moving to Grand Prix 17 months ago. The pair competed at the World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden in April, their only competition outside Central Europe.
The next Central European League event is scheduled for Moscow next week.
