CAPPELN, Germany, July 26, 2019–Victoria Max-Theurer and Benaglio won the CDI4* Grand Prix Friday for the first victory by the four-time Olympian on the Oldenburg gelding.

Victoria who rides for Austria and the 11-year-old that began Grand Prix in April scored 70.087% for the win at her home venue in what was their ninth start at Big Tour.

Japan’s Hiroyuki Kitahara rode Huracan to second on a score of 69.696%, a personal best and the highest placing for the duo since being partnered at Big Tour in May last year.

Hiroyuki, who rode for Japan at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, is aiming the 11-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding for the Japanese team at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. The horse is owned by the Japan Racing Association.

Austria’s Stefan Lehfellner on Fackeltanz placed third on 68.957%.
