GUADALAJARA, Mexico, June 7, 2019–Martha Fernanda del Valle rode Beduino LAM to a personal best score to win the CDI3* Grand Prix Friday in Mexico’s final qualification event to select a team for the Pan American Games at the end of next month while Prix St. Georges results left Small Tour combinations undecided.

Martha and the 13-year-old Lusitano were awarded 69.565% to consolidate the pair’s Big Tour lead in qualifying for the team that will seek to earn one of the two places available at the Pan Ams for the Olympics in Tokyo next year.

Bernadette Pujals, Mexico’s most accomplished international rider in the past two decades, stands second on Curioso in the Big Tour standings but is not competing here.

Antonio Rivera on Fite won the Prix St. Georges on a score of 68.235%, the pair’s best result in the qualifiers which has them standing second with the Intermediate 1 to come.

Irvin Leiva on Pabellon placed second on 66.824% that was the pair’s best qualifying result. Before this event, the pair were fourth in the Small Tour rankings. Edith Vega on Isabella, ranked 10th, placed third on 66.706%

Teams for the Pan Ams in Lima, Peru can be mixed Big and Small Tour combinations with Grand Prix duos given a bonus of 1.5% for both the Grand Prix and the Special in the team competition. A team must include at least one Grand Prix pair to earn a start in Tokyo.

The United States has already qualified for Tokyo with its 2018 World Equestrian Games silver medal performance.
