OTTAWA, Ontario, May 17, 2019–Tina Irwin on Laurencio and Lindsay Kellock on Floratina placed one-two in the CDI1* Prix St. Georges Friday to remain firmly atop Small Tour qualifying for the Canadian team for the Pan American Games in two months.
Tina and her 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding that have led the rankings from the start of qualifying at the beginning of the year scored 72.892% for the victory while Lindsay and the 11-year-old Hanoverian mare posted 71.814% for second place. Ariana Chia on Fiderflame was third on 69.706%.
Earlier, Jill Irving on Arthur posted a personal best score in the Grand Prix. Jill is already atop the Pan Am standings for Big Tour with Degas.
For the Small Tour combinations this event could complete the requirement for one competition results after the April 1.
Canada has not yet announced the makeup of the team of four of a mix of Big and Small Tour pairs for the Pan Ams in Lima, Peru at the end of July. However, a Grand Prix combination is required if Canada captures one of two places available in Lima to earn a berth for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The United States’ silver medal performance at last year’s World Equestrian Games qualified for Tokyo.
The Intermediate 1 that is essential for qualifying is scheduled for Saturday while the Grand Prix Special will be staged Sunday.
