WINDSOR, England, May 10, 2019–Charlotte Dujardin and Erlentanz won the Royal Windsor Horse Show CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Friday in only the second Big Tour musical performance for the pair. Carl Hester withdrew Nip Tuck from the Freestyle after the 14-year-old KWPN gelding was found to be “very sore” Friday morning.

Charlotte and the 12-year-old Trakehner gelding scored 81.900% for the win after taking the Grand Prix Thursday. The results came less than two months after the pair’s debut CDI in England. Erlentanz is owned and previously competed internationally by Sonnar Murray Brown of Great Britain.

Richard Davison on Bubblingh posted a personal best 78.310% for second place. Their previous best was 77.810% in July 2018.

The results at Windsor were something of a breakthrough for the 13-year-old KWPN gelding that Richard bred at home–Bubblingh’s mother being his 2004 Olympic and 2002 World Equestrian Games mount.

Bubblingh, he said, “suffers from what I’d call stage nerves, so I’m really impressed with how he dealt with everything in front of the crowd.”

Ireland’s Heike Holstein on Sambucca placed third on 74.915% in only the second Freestyle for the homebred Irish Sporthorse mare.

“I’m gutted,” Carl was quoted by Horse & Hound magazine. “I’m disappointed not just for me but for the horse and all his fans who were hoping to see him tonight. These things happen, but hopefully it’s nothing serious.”

Carl and Nip Tuck placed second in the Grand Prix Thursday in the second CDI for the pair back following a 20-month break from competition. The duo were on Britain’s 2016 Rio Olympic Games silver medal team as well as competing at the 2014 World Equestrian Games, the 2015 and 2017 European Championships and the 2017 World Cup Final in Omaha.
