SAUMUR, France, May 4, 2019–Spain’s Beatriz Ferrer-Salat and Delgado narrowly won the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday with Marlies van Baalen of the Netherlands on Ben Johnson posting a personal best score for runner-up.
Beatriz and the 18-year-old Westfalen gelding that have partnered at Olympics, World Equestrian Games and European Championships scored 77.525% for the win, a day after taking the Grand Prix in the pair’s first CDI this year.
Marlies and Ben Johnson, a 13-year-old KWPN gelding starting the second year at Grand Prix, scored 77.350% for second. Three of the five judges placed the pair first while two gave the nod to Beatriz and Delgado.
Great Britain’s Gareth Hughes on Classic Briolinca was third on 76.550%.
