ORNAGO, Italy, Mar. 24, 2019–France’s Morgan Barbançon in the debut show for Black Pearl won the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday just days before the Olympic rider heads to her third World Cup Final.
Morgan and the 13-year-old KWPN mare by Painted Black, her mount at the 2012 Olympics and 2014 World Equestrian Games, scored 71.025 per cent for the victory.
Germany’s Alina Röhricht on Atlantis and Austria’s Amanda Hartung on Dresscode Black tied for second on 70.100 per cent.
“She reminds me of her dad,” Morgan said after the ride.
The 26-year-old Morgan rode Painted Black at the 2015 World Cup Final in Las Vegas. In Paris in 2018, her last championship before switching to ride for France instead of Spain, rode Sir Donnerhall II OLD that she will take to the Final in Gothenburg, Sweden April 3-7.
